I love how... @ 01:17 am

People call themselves "libertarians" yet they worship Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Ron Paul.

Fact is, if you're right-leaning on social issues, you're really not a libertarian. True libertarianism is being liberal on social issues while being fiscally conservative.

That's MY stance on things. However, since the Beck/Paul/Palin revolution started up two years ago, I can't call myself a libertarian lest I get lumped in with those three.

Beck and Palin are nowhere near Libertarians. Ron Paul is remarkably close but not quite there.

True libertarianism isn't about being "liberal" or "conservative"; it's the believe that a government's only role is policing, interference in corperate affairs and any actions of individuals is beyond their role. This is not a liberal belief in the strictest sense though the latter part of that statement certainly borrows from it.

I agree with you, Beau. Although to be honest, most of the Libertarians I've met have been buttholes. It's not quite as selfish a philosophy as Objectivism but it's close. I tend to think that most Libertarians are of the "I've got mine, so screw you" variety. I'd love to say differently but I haven't seen anyone except you who didn't follow this mold and you wised up as you got older so it doesn't really count.

Ayn Rand is fun to read in high school and college but doesn't have any real-world solutions or ideas.
